New Purchase: Pastel Nail Varnish!

Hello and welcome back! This is a shorter post to talk about two new nail varnishes which I've been loving! I was going through my nail varnish collection and realised that I didn't have many bright colours and had no pastel colours at all. One shade which I did have was Cyan Blue by Barry M (an amazing bright blue) which made me add a pastel blue to my collection.

Linked below // £2.99
Surprise, surprise I ended up with two shades rather than the one I went for, however I am very happy with the colours I got and would recommend them heavily! They’re both from the Rimmel London collection by Rita Ora and are both shades named after music festivals; Peachella and Bestival Blue. Peachella is a really easy to wear peach which is nice and summery without being too imposing if you worry about your nails clashing with your outfit. Bestival Blue is similar to a light cornflower blue shade and looks super pretty for spring/summer. Both lasted really well on my nails (I have short nails so they don’t chip as easily and had on this top coat/base coat) and were opaque with two coats.

I hope you enjoyed this post, feel free to comment below with your favourite summer nail varnishes! New posts go up on Sundays!

Summer Make-up Essentials!

Hello and welcome back! For me there are 3 things which I always finding myself turning for from my make-up bag as the weather heats up. That’s why this week I thought I would share with you this year’s picks for a light, dewy foundation; a warm, matte bronzer and a dark brown eye-liner!

Linked below // £8.99
The first thing I swap once the weather turns sunnier is my foundation. Through the winter I like using more high coverage foundations and use more powder, this year I've been using the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation which provides great coverage but isn't too heavy. However in the summer I like a more natural look, and therefore chose the Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation. I love Rimmel foundations as their shade 'light porcelain' matches my skin perfectly and they're not very expensive. Their Wake Me Up foundation isn't a new release, however this is the first time I've used it and so far I'm loving it. I find I don't need to use powder to make it last and it's sheer enough that you can still see my freckles, but you can't see my dark circles or blemishes! It's also got an SPF 15 which is an added bonus.

The next product I use mostly in summer is a bronzer. I'm super fussy with bronzers as I'm pale and think it's easy with a fair skin tone to over bronze, which is why I prefer a matte bronzer which I find to look more natural than one with a shimmer. I don't use a bronzer in winter - I prefer a more grey shade - but I like one in summer to add a little warmth and create a little definition as well. The one I'm using now I've featured in past blog posts and bought around Christmas time, and that is the L'Oreal Paris Glam Bronze, in the shade 00 Blond Sun. This is a really great bronzer and is very pigmented but still blendable which means you can either go for a natural or bold look super easily. Since buying this from boots I've not been able to find it online in the same style i.e. one colour in a compact packaging with a mirror underneath, however Boots online do sell the L'Oreal Paris Glam Bronze Duo Powder which I assume is similar.

The final product I turn to in summer is a brown eye-liner. I do still love and use a black liquid eye-liner but on sunny days I think that using a brown eye-liner, either pencil or liquid, can just add to that summery-bronzed glow and look beautifully natural. The one I've recently purchased to try out is the Maybelline New York Master Precise liquid eye-liner in the shade forest brown, this is a super dark brown but just looks more simple and undone than a solid black and has a super fine tip to make a cat eye really easy.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, please feel free to let me know what make-up you enjoying using in the summer months! New blog posts go up on Sundays!

Eye Makeup Trilogy: Brows!

Hello and welcome back! This week is the third and final post in the eye make-up trilogy I've been doing and that means its brows time! I don’t do a great deal to my brows in the summer as I prefer and overall more natural look, however depending upon what I'm doing I switch between products. My brows are naturally in shape and require little maintenance, however they’re sparse through the arch which is where I focus on if I'm doing a fuller brow look. For more info, keep on reading!

£3.99 // £2.99 // £4.95
For a natural look - I go for the Rimmel Brow This Way tinted brow gel, this is really great to give some more colour and definition quickly and easily!

For a fuller look - I use a brow pencil, this one by Rimmel is a really great colour for me and lets me fill in my brows in the areas they're sparse without looking too drawn on

For a dramatic brow - I use the w7 brow twister, this is in the same style packaging and texture as the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz but for a fraction of the price, this creates a full and more dramatic look and I use it on days when I'm feeling more brave with my brows!
I also use a clear brow gel/clear mascara to set my brows when I've used a pencil/brow twister, however mine has run out at the moment

I hope you liked my little trilogy! I use highstreet/drugstore products as they suit my student budget, let me know if you have any favourite eye make-up products you'd recommend!

My everyday makeup!

Hello again, thanks for visiting! I thought that today I would take the opportunity to share with you the makeup I wear on a regular day. On a normal day around the house I don't usually wear makeup as I suffer from dry skin and prefer to give it a break, however when I go out I like to wear a 'my skin but better' type look. This is very natural but covers up any imperfections and adds a bit of colour to my ghostly complexion.

Estee Lauder palette; unknown price

This Estee Lauder palette was given to me as a gift and so unfortunately I don't know the prices. However, as you can see in the photo it contains two of the EL tender blushes in Rosewood (top) and Pink Kiss (bottom), it then has three of the EL signature silky eyeshadow duos in the colours (L-R) Ginger, Mocha and Plum Sugar, and finally at the bottom are three of the brands long lasting lipsticks in the shades Hot Kiss, Rose Tea and Pink Parfait.

All of the products in this palette are really good quality and I use this daily, especially as it has a mirror which is the full size of the palette. The three eye shadows which are marked with a star are the
three which I use most, the top two are great for adding a wash of colour to the lid and the darker of the mocha duo is a lovely brown shade, perfect for adding definition to the crease.

W7 In The Buff palette - £9.95
The next palette I use on a daily basis is the w7 In The Buff palette, this has 12 shadows (mixture of matte and shimmer) which are all neutral and this is all you need to create an everyday nude eye. This palette was first noticed because of its similarity to the Urban Decay Naked palettes at a fraction of the price. I am probably one of the only beauty bloggers not to own a single Naked palette, however I don't need one when I have this.
In the photo I have marked the 4 colours I use most, these are: buff, sand, dust and silk. Usually I will take 'sand' all over the lid with either dust or silk in the crease, I then finish off with buff under the brow bone and in the corner of my eye as a highlighter.

Boots, £2.99/ unknown/ Dainty Doll online/ Boots, £4.99/£1.99

Next up is the rest of my eye makeup, I like to keep my makeup bright and illuminated and therefore don't often go for an eyeliner. However, if you're interested in what eyeliners I'm currently using let me know in the comments! Starting with eyebrows, I use two different products to shade in my dreaded brows, firstly I use the Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil in shade 002 Hazel. This is a great pencil for quick application, however sometimes I do need to warm it up with a hair dryer first to get it started. The other product I use is the w7 Brow Twister in brown, this is slightly too dark for me to use all over my brows as my hair is still bleached from the sun (my hair is dark brown with a ginger undertone) and therefore I am using a combination of both to match as best I can as my hair darkens through autumn and winter. I use the Collection colour lash in clear to set my brows. The next product I use is the Dainty Doll eyeshadow base, this range was brought out by Nicola Roberts (of Girls Aloud) and is designed for pale faced girls in mind. This base is a cream consistency and like most is a creamy white colour, because of its cream consistency it works really well to hold eyeshadows without creasing all day long. If I'm going out either all day or on a night I also sometimes use this under my eyes to create a illuminating base for my concealer to keep it in place. Finally on my eyes I use the Maybelline New York Great Lash mascara in 'Blackest Black'. This mascara is a great for a day to day natural look and works well to separate lashes and adds thickness.

Boots £7.99/£4.19/£4.19/unknown

Personally, my base is the most boring part of my makeup routine, partly because it takes the most time and effort. This makeup doesn't create a truly flawless look but it does help to brighten and lift my skin, the first product I use is the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation in the shade 010 light porcelain. This shade is perfect for my skin and therefore Rimmel is my go-to brand for foundation, I love the way it makes my skin look and how it isn't too heavy, despite its supposed 25 hour wear - I can vouch for 10 hours. The other products I use are all by Collection, another of my go-to high street brands. Firstly, the pressed powder in Ivory, this is a great powder for setting either full makeup or concealer on its own and adds a tiny bit of coverage itself. Next is probably the beauty bloggers favourite concealer, the Collection lasting perfection 16 hour wear, I use the lightest shade 'fair' and find it works well on scarring, blemishes and dark circles. The last product is blusher, as I am very fair skinned (and also have natural redness in my cheeks) blush is something which I trial all the time, this one by Collection is in the colour Bashful and is a lovely bright rose pink with a slight shimmer, I use this faintly to add a slight spot of colour and brighten my face.

Fianlly! We're at the end! I hope you enjoyed reading about my everyday makeup and that you'll come back on Wednesday, I have been very kindly nominated for the Leibster Awards so come to see who I nominate then. I hope you're having a great week, please feel free to comment your thoughts on the products I have been talking about. Stay golden!
